Hey there, fellow parents! It's that time of year again - backpacks are packed, lunch boxes are... well, let's be honest, I don't know exactly where the lunch boxes are YET but hopefully we'll find them soon. Anyway, here are some ways to use AI and keep your sanity this school year:
1. Turn Paper into Pixels
It works for digital paper as well. Upload a PDF or a picture of a document and ask AI to create a sortable table for easier viewing or to copy elsewhere.
2. Get School Contacts Into Your Phone
Remember that email with 50 staff contacts? Copy, paste into an AI, ask for a vCard file. Save the contents (`contacts.vcf`). Import into your phone. I'd much prefer to search my phone contacts for the email address to alert that my child will be home sick rather than digging through emails.
3. Summarize School Emails
Every school email is like a recipe on the internet. You gotta hear about the hike in the Andes when they first tried this dish when all you want to know is how many cups of flour you need. Your mileage may vary here so I recommend double checking the important bits but this is still helpful for triage in the midst of running around.
Here's to another year of organized chaos. May your coffee be strong, your patience endless, and your AI assistant eerily efficient. Best of luck.
For all those grappling with back to school, I highly recommend these AI time savers. 1. Take a pic or upload a PDF and have Claude make it sortable or just copyable to some other document. 2. Have Claude convert the list of school faculty/admins' contact info into a vcard file. Save contents into 'contacts.vcf'. Import file into phone. 3. Summarize emails. Too much to read. Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor! https://paragraph.xyz/@saadiq/ai-hacks-for-back-to-school-sanity-part-2
Am very excited to talk more with you next week about some of this stuff…
I love sharing notes!
In an attempt to be more phone-free in our home, we set up a Tidbyt in view of our kitchen table that shows the weather, the time, and the number of minutes until the next MTA bus comes to our local spot. Saves us so many phone glances during breakfast with the kiddos https://tidbyt.com/
WE HAVE ONE TOO! I love it. Also have the bus app in our rotation in the mornings. Was just thinking about potentially building for it. Either getting view.art on it or perhaps getting more bus info. Get caught semi-frequently by the 2 buses close together and then the large gap to the next one. Would love to know what's the LAST bus for a while as well but it doesn't have that by default. We are going to have fun chatting.
Get ready for the new school year with practical AI tips from @saadiq! Learn how to turn paper into digital documents, streamline school contact saving, and summarize those lengthy school emails. It’s all about keeping organized and maintaining sanity amidst the chaos. Cheers to another school year!
