Week in Review: September 8, 2024

I hope everyone had a restful weekend. These are some of my favorite items from the week passed, in case you missed it.

Tips and Tricks

  • AI is a great writing copilot on making sure you are conveying what you want via your intros and conclusions. Let it.

  • Back to School with AI

    • Upload pictures or PDFs to manipulate or export structured data

    • Get school contacts into your phone easily

    • Summarize the torrrent of school emails

Writings

  • Side Hustle Manifesto: A personal journey through coding, writing, and building.

  • Can Google and Gemini Catch Up to Their Own Potential: My frustrating encounter with Google's Gemini AI in Google sheets reveals a gap in their operationalizing AI for their customers. UPDATE: Since I wrote this, I see Google has added gen AI editing of images in Google Photos. I haven't played with it yet but I'm hopeful.

  • Artifacts Everywhere!: Claude's deployment of Artifacts to all users is an example of AI done right. The ability to preview charts and code in the Claude experience helps the magic come alive immediately for users.

  • The Second Best Time To Start A Writing Practice Is Today: Overcome perfectionism, leverage AI, and start writing today. In an era of accessible content creation, your audience becomes your key differentiator.

Have a great week!
