Recap of Last Month:
✍Writers and Storytellers Panel
Practical advice on how to best position oneself for opportunity, collaboration, and a better internet through storytelling
💖 Memorable Moments from the Panel:
1) An observation of the space we’ve created - Erika: This is such a peaceful, welcoming environment where no one interrupts each other. Everyone is listening to everyone else. Maybe I’ve just been in too many spaces where people are talking over one another, and no one can finish a sentence!
2) On finding inspiration to write - Riley: I watch a lot of YouTube - philosophy, games and other non-crypto topics, YB: I look at articles from the 80s and 90s and often there’s something similar in crypto. Later in the stream, YB also shared a memorable moment of watching a skateboarder in Washington Park (NYC) trying the same trick repeatedly. Finally, when they landed it, everyone burst into applause. Takeaway - doing something random (and away from your routine) can lead to inspiration.
3) Pro-tip on getting to events/event coverage as a form of content - Dayana: Pitch yourself! I offer to write - put yourself forward; there is nothing to lose! I focus on things people tell me personally and find little conversation anecdotes.
4) As a group of mostly (all) introverts, tips for handling overstimulation at large events like ETHDenver, ETHCC - Naomiii - I bring a book. Sometimes, people start asking me about my book, and we end up talking about a topic way more interesting than just exchanging elevator pitches.
5) Everyone had an interesting perspective to share and helpful tips. But, I didn’t expect to laugh so much, and a few of the funniest comments came from Liv - I really like true crime, and all the details and poking holes, and that’s great as a journalist, but not great for making new friends. I learned from a podcast that one of the Euphoria actors pretended to be a cat (for inspiration/creativity/letting go) and told the interviewer they should try it too, and pretend to be a bird!
These are just a few moments that stood out to me, watch the whole session over here on YouTube.
🔍 Dive Deeper into Quests and Event Design!
This month’s session will be packed with more practical advice and inspiring stories - this time from those who are actively shaping their community through innovative event design and quest-based engagement. We’ll spend the first hour exploring the intricate world of Quests and Event Design with Bunny and Riley, inspired by Riley's recent article, Questing into a New Experience Economy.
In the second half, I’ll join an international group of Community Builders who host a multitude of IRL events for various communities, including Farcaster Fridays. This is one of the many common threads that have brought us together, and as we each prepare to host our second official Farcaster Friday on Oct. 4th, we’re going to chat live about what’s worked well so far, challenges and lessons learned, and our hopes for the future.
Whether you’re looking to host your own events or simply interested in the latest mechanics of community building, this livestream is for you!
