Inner garden

In this issue #214 of your weekly poetry shot, we celebrate the poet of the month

When I told you about the tree I planted,
In the desolate soil of my inner garden,
You said... NO!
To uproot it,
To stop it from casting shadows on your soul.

But it was too late,
It had already wandered among the branches,
Up its branches...

And the winner is... this time, the monthly trpplffct poetry grant was distributed via a round on rounds. This is a fantastic system, that works in tandem with Farcaster. To participate in the round, all you need to do is share your submission in the indicated channel (/trpplffct in this case), and add the assigned hashtag, if any. Then, wait for the curators to like your post. When the round closes, the total reward pool is divided over the participants based on the likes their submission has received. So, it's curated by the community. There's even the opportunity to select who the curating community is. I did that. I made the subscribers to the Trpplr hypersub the curators. So, the way the poetry grant was distributed, was decided by what the Trpplrs liked. And they liked the above poem by the poet known as El Bocha. But who is he? We interviewed him to get a glimpse behind the pfp.

Fren, congrats with becoming the poet of the month. Can you tell us about yourself?

My name is Ignacio, its origin comes from the Latin Ignatius, and this from the root ignis (fire), so it would mean fiery or fervent. I like the meaning of my name.
I studied social communication and I am passionate about football, music, poetry, reading, writing, cinema, food, travel, new technologies.
The great focus of my life at the moment is athletics, I am a high-performance athlete specialized in middle distance.

Ah, a fiery poet. Well, you ignited the poetry channel on a daily basis.

For me, poetry is closely linked to writing and music ("music is poetry").
I started writing out of a kind of inner need and found an activity that calmed me down and helped me understand myself and life better, or at least give it meaning.

I remember that the first poem I wrote was because of a broken heart. I think we all go through this in life and it's okay, it's part of it, but I realized that I could transform a sad experience into something very beautiful like poetry, as a song says "I turn poison into paper."
Nowadays I not only write poetry, but all kinds of reflections, stories and even my own songs and I continue learning, I still have a lot to learn.

The inner need, music and love. Very poetic. Now, how did you come into this wonderful onchain world, the world of Web3?

I came to this beautiful world mainly through a friend who was always present in all the events that appeared, no matter what kind they were, he was there and shared it with us, some did not like it or were not interested but others like me were very captivated, the infinity of things that can be done and known has no limits and continues to expand.

I remember that I entered this world with virtual works of art several years ago in an application that was dissolved but that was of great growth for the community, which did not put a stop and continued looking for other paths, like this one.

Nice, a friend. Well, what friendly advice do you have for poets who want to enter this space?

To a poet looking to enter the world of NFTs, I would say: Embrace it with the same passion and creativity that you pour into your words. The NFT space is a new frontier for artistic expression, where your poetry can find unique ways to connect with audiences. Don’t just think of it as a market but as an opportunity to innovate, to blend technology with art, and to create something lasting. It’s a space that allows your work to be valued in new ways, so stay true to your voice while exploring these limitless possibilities.

Embrace it. There's no better way. Thanks. One final thing: if I would come to dinner at your place, what would we eat and drink?

If you came to my house for dinner, since we are from different countries, I would love for you to try the local foods. I would buy some and cook others. I love cooking.

Of course, I would like to know what foods you like, since you couldn't enjoy something you don't like, no matter how well it is made. But I think I would choose a complete "ASADO", with a starter, different types of meat cuts and salad, obviously with dessert (ice cream, chocolate or homemade flan).

For drinks, I would have you try the traditional appetizers and a good red wine if you like that too.

That sounds like an amazing poet's dinner. Thank you Ignacio, and again, congratulations on being the poet of the month!

The word 'rounds' made me think of going round and round and round. So I searched for a little clip about a carousel and I found this. Enjoy.
