No people in the park

We're enjoying a walk in the park in issue #227 of your weekly poetry shot

There are no people in the park today,
I think it is because it rains.

No runners running round and round,
no commuters strolling to their trains,
few dogs are being walked right now,
no nannies pushing prams,
the ducks are swimming in the pond
and empty is the playground.

There are no people in the park today.
That is because it rains.

We live close to a park, and I am there basically every day of the year. I walk the dog in the park, and do my runs there (not every day, but still). On sunny days, the park is quite crowded. Especially in the weekends, when everybody seems to be running and playing in 'our' park. But not when it rains. When it rains, we have the park to ourselves.

Do you prefer a busy park on a sunny day, or an empty one on a rainy day?

Poésie de la vie

Contemplating parks, I remembered this amazing poem from my friend Punit, who has an amazing Substack newsletter called Hello Universe.
