New Lens Protocol: TLDR ✍🏼

We’re excited to share Lens V3 as a Developer Preview! This is all about migrating existing Lens apps to the new Lens network and welcoming new ones into the mix.

What’s Happening 👀

Lens is rolling out a robust infrastructure that eliminates single points of failure and external interference, allowing user-owned social apps to thrive.

Built on ZKsync and secured by Ethereum, the new Lens provides devs with a scalable platform that features low costs and a seamless user experience.

How It’s Happening? 🤯

The toolkit features modular components like Accounts, Usernames, Graphs, Feeds, and Groups, enabling developers to easily create customised applications.

New Lens Features: Network, Social Features, Devs Tools, SDK + APIs, Connect with any wallet, sign with email or mobile, Stablecoin Gas (GHO), Instant Bridging.

These elements enhance user experience while supporting community governance and monetisation opportunities, keeping users actively engaged.

Why It’s Important 😉

This upgrade empowers devs to build user-friendly apps that facilitate free social interactions while ensuring ownership and portability to users.

The introduction of Lens Storage Nodes enhances data integrity, giving users full control over their content.

Our Take 🤓

The new Lens Protocol is a game-changer for social apps. It provides the tools needed for devs to innovate and create engaging experiences that prioritise user ownership and community engagement.

Farcaster App Frames: Next Chapter 🖼

Tony D'Addeo, aka @deodad, recently dropped a draft spec for App Frames, set to replace Mini Apps. Here's the lowdown:

What’s Going On? 👀
App Frames aim to streamline the development and distribution of social apps within the Farcaster ecosystem and are set to replace Mini Apps. They allow seamless integration into feeds and hooks, leveraging user identity for authenticated actions.

What Problems Will This Solve? 🤯
By eliminating the need for allowlisting and improving performance, App Frames will enhance user experience and accessibility. Devs can create apps that prompt social actions without for instance sign-in flows, making interactions smoother.

Why It Matters 😉
This innovation is crucial for boosting daily active users (DAU) and enhancing in-app transaction experiences. With built-in social context and wallet integration, devs can create engaging, onchain experiences.

Our Take 🤓
App Frames are a game changer for Farcaster, simplifying app development and boosting user engagement. With no allowlisting and seamless integration, we can't wait to see the innovative creations that will emerge!

And the Good News?
Devs can expect an SDK and playground by 15th November (TODAY)! Are you ready to start building? Dive into the Spec here 💥

Beer Taste: Singha from Thailand 🍻

Are you still in Bangkok for Devcon? While we couldn't make it, here’s some beer advice for those at Devcon: Singha Beer, Thailand’s original premium brew.

History
Founded by Phraya Bhirom Bhakdi in 1933, Singha has become the most-loved premium beer in Thailand, proudly featuring the royal Garuda symbol.

Cultural Impact
More than just a beer, Singha is part of Thai culture, enjoyed during family gatherings, street food outings, and celebrations like Songkran. Its rich flavour pairs perfectly with spicy dishes, making it a favourite for locals and tourists alike.

Partnerships
Singha has made its mark globally, sponsoring Chelsea F.C., MotoGP, and even theatre productions, enhancing its presence in sports and culture.

Our Favourite
Singha Reserve, a full-bodied lager with a 5.3% ABV, offers a richer flavour profile with hoppy and floral notes.

To all our friends at Devcon, grab a Singha after those crypto events and enjoy a taste of its vibrant culture! Cheers! 🍻
