What is Writers Without Walls? And a Must Read from Write3 Founder.

Newsication #007

Welcome, writer fam, to the latest edition of our Newsication.

So what is Writers Without Walls? What are we about? This sums it up currently, with more to come as we grow.

Writers Without Walls is a community breaking down barriers for writers. Through their online platform (coming soon), they plan to provide resources, workshops, and feedback to improve writing skills and foster collaboration. Utilizing blockchain technology, writers gain control over their work, reaching a wider audience and connecting directly with readers. This movement celebrates creativity, diversity, and inclusivity, empowering writers to thrive. By addressing common challenges like writer's block and fear of judgment, Writers Without Walls offers a supportive environment. Their mission is to revolutionize the writing industry and empower writers to achieve their potential.

Our plans are ambitious; there’s no doubt about that. Are they achievable? Absolutely, with your help. Community is where our strength will be formed. The community will make or break us. The question is, are you in?

We currently have (two) one community for you to choose from.

Writers Without Walls on EntreAll are welcome. This is a safe place for writers to learn about Web3 from other writers that have been there. There will be resources, guides, courses and many experienced Web3 people to bounce questions off before you even decide if you want to explore Web3.

Writer Without Walls on NAS.ioWe will be shutting down our NAS.io soon. While we are still a fan of what they’ve done in other areas, we always felt that the app was missing a vital part of building a community. Chat features. When I asked, they stated that they wouldn’t do that as it already existed. So we’d have to link to another app. Discord or Slack, mainly. While I do use both, most people I’ve talked to are resistant to adding another app on top of adding a community app.

We will be migrating to another app and will announce that in our next issue.

If you get into running and watch other videos or read blogs, you will inevitably find a video or blog titled something like “What Running Has Taught Me” or “Why I Run?” or “What Running Does for Me

I figured if I wanted to be respected in the running content creator community, I needed to do one too, haha!

In all reality, this article doesn’t come from peer pressure but has actually been on my mind to talk about for a while.

So here we go.

Take Time For Yourself

Carve out at least 30 minutes per day for relaxation and self-care activities.

Hey, listen up! I've got some real talk for you. We all know life can be CRAZY hectic. It's like running a marathon every day, am I right? But here's the thing - you gotta take care of yourself too. It's like the ol' oxygen mask on a plane situation - you gotta put yours on before you can help anyone else. So, let's make a plan. Carve out at least 30 minutes a day for yourself. Maybe do some mindfulness meditation, or get your read on with a good book. Whatever floats your boat! Just remember, if you don't take care of yourself, who will? So put down that never-ending to-do list and take some time for YOU!

This is what "Looking after number one!" really meant before it got twisted. If you don't look after yourself, you will burn out. And then you are no help to anyone that needs you. Family, friends, and co-workers. Etc. So take that time out for yourself.

It's like when someone brings in the birthday cake at work. You say to whoever is cutting the cake that you'll only have a small-ish piece. You are just having a tiny piece.

Well, now it's time to be self… ish. Have a tiny piece of the day to your… self.

First-Mover Advantage: A 5-Step Process to Kickstart Your Web3 Writing Journey

Web3, the next phase of the internet, brings a shift from centralized control to a decentralized model powered by blockchain technology. Web3 moves away from platforms like Twitter, Linkedin and Google and puts the users in control of data and privacy. This shift is revolutionizing the writing industry by empowering writers with content ownership and innovative monetization methods like cryptocurrency and tokenization. Early adopters of web3 writing will benefit from increased:

• Market Share

• Audience Loyalty

• Brand Recognition

Writers want the “first mover advantage” web3 offers, but they don’t know where to begin. Let me help. Here’s a five step process to get you writing in web3 today.

Step 1: Learn Web3 101

To become a successful web3 writer, don’t worry about being a crypto expert. You only need a solid understanding of the basics. The first step is to create a crypto wallet. Most web3 writing is done on the Ethereum blockchain, so grab yourself an Eth wallet. Then begin learning the basics. I’ve put together a list of 20 fantastic web3 101 resources that are completely free. Use them to gain a basic understanding of web3.

Step 2: Purchase an ENS Domain

As you begin your web3 writing journey, building the proper identity is important. ENS is a great way to create a decentralized profile. Web3 writers need an ENS domain for 3 reasons:

1. Simplify crypto payments

2. Brand building on decentralized social platforms

3. Subdomains will be a powerful community building tool

I recently recorded a podcast with ENS expert, Dr3a. Listen and learn why ENS domains are essential to your web3 writing.

Step 3: Start Building a Web3 Audience Use web2 platforms to gain web3 traction:

While I hope the future of web3 writing is completely decentralized, the fact is web2 platforms offer a built-in audience of web3 aficionados. Use platforms like Twitter to build your web3 audience. For example, write threads on Twitter and connect with crypto experts on Linkedin.

Finally, get to know your fellow Write3 community by following this list of 68 creators.

Step 4: Create Compelling Web3 Content

The best performing web3 writing will appeal to a web3 audience. Whether you’re creating novels or blog posts, the most engaging content will discuss:

• AI

• Crypto

• Futurism

Of course, you should write about what you love, but recognize web3 writing appeals to web3 audiences and will be collected at a higher rate.

Step 5: Publish To Web3

Congratulations! You’re ready to publish to web3. Consider:

• Minting an essay on @viamirror

• Share a short story on @readl_co

• Transition your newsletter to @paragraph_xyz

I’ve created numerous works on Mirror, use this resource to learn more about the minting process.

In conclusion, embarking on the Web3 writing journey is not just about embracing the future of content creation; it’s about being part of a transformative movement. By following these steps you’re not only positioning yourself as an early adopter, but also gaining the unique advantages of audience loyalty, market share, and increased brand recognition.

As with any journey, starting is often the hardest part, but with the resources and guidelines provided, you’re now equipped to navigate the Web3 writing landscape. Remember, the Web3 space is constantly evolving, and staying informed is crucial. To help you keep pace, consider subscribing to the Write3 Newsletter. You’ll receive regular updates, insights, and tips on how to succeed as a Web3 writer.

Don’t wait for the future to happen, be part of creating it. Start your Web3 writing journey today.
