Guest blog: your guide to enjoying your time on the trail

Ruckus Racing's top tips for great times on the all-terrain

"XFondo certainly puts you up against some technical riding - singletrack, bumpy descents and steep climbs - and finding routes that will help you prepare for these moments is key to help build your confidence.

Head to trails that you find challenging, walk over parts with your bike to see how it will roll over, hop on and give it a go!"

Repurposed: BC's best gravel riding

7mesh's Chris Hatton takes you on a tour of some the best our backyard has to offer. If you don't immediately want to hit the dirt after watching this, there might be no saving you.

Community is at the heart of everything

We're fortunate to live in a part of the world where there are so many great gravel community options to get involved with that cater for all ability and ambition levels.

If you're looking for a new group to get riding with, take a look at our pick of the best groups and clubs from across the Sea to Sky and Lower Mainland regions.

BTS: scouting the new Further course

This ladies and gentlemen is William, our handsome and stupidly fast bike riding course director. It's his job to design the routes that you get to enjoy and suffer on, so now you know who to direct your complaints at when the pain cave comes a calling.

Here, we find Will halfway up one of the climbs on the freshly-created Rutherford Creek - Suicide Hill section of the Sea to Sky trail, which forms a chunk of the new Further distance category.

We went scouting to see what you're in store for and here's the verdict: some punchy climbs, technical loose stuff, a little bit of hike a bike and twisty corners that'll soon be invoking your lactic for all it's worth.

Get after that type 2 fun, friends.

Lone wolf or just looking for new route inspiration?

There's a lot of backyard out there to get riding on. Fortunately, our friends at Landyachtz know the best spots to go pedalling out on the dusty stuff.

Check out their suggested Lower Mainland routes on our website now - you might just discover your new favourite place to ride!

And our first winner from the ultimate gravel giveaway is...

Congratulations to Ashley Beckman who's won 2 entries to XFondo Whistler 2024! Said Ashley:

This is my first ever bike race so getting a free entry feels extra special. Also, I was able to give the free ticket to the friend who convinced me to sign up - nothing like actual payback for encouraging your friends to be brave.

I am excited to tackle a new adventure with all of my pals and see what the gravel up there has to offer - I've heard great things!

Next prize to be won: 7mesh full gravel kit

7mesh make the gear you want to be wearing when taking on the trails. Designed & tested in Squamish, Canada, their advanced apparel is built for every elevation.

The registration deadline to be placed in the 7mesh draw for a full gravel kit makeover is midnight May 17. Everyone signed up for XFondo Whistler 2024 by this date will be in the hat!
