How to Schedule Casts with Supercast

And Always Be in the Farcaster Feed

What is Supercast?

Supercast.xyz is a paid Farcaster client for posting casts, scrolling the timeline, and replying to to your replies.

Supercast was founded by Woj @woj.eth to provide an alternative from Warpcast.

It costs $10 a month, but I think the upgrades are worth the price tag.

Unlike Warpcast, Supercast has no rate limits, allows you to reply the same way many times in a row (handy when you are trying power through all those GMs), lets you claim Degen and Moxie in app, sorts its feed in order of recency, and allows you to schedule posts in advance!

Why Schedule Casts?

As an artist, I am a huge proponent of scheduling casts in advance.

When I first started on Warpcast, I was spending way too much time trying to remember which channels I had posted in each day, and which of my images I had posted recently. Then, once I figured out where I wanted to post an image, I was spending way too much time scrolling through my immense back catalogue of minted and unminted images to pick the perfect one.

I was finding that I didn't have much time left over to reply to my replies, let alone go out into channels to peruse other people's content. Trying to show off my own art was just taking way too much time and energy, so I created a system!

Back in June, I created my Farcaster content calendar. I figured out which channels I wanted to be sure to post in each day and set a spaced out time to post in each. From there, I started to batch my casts.

For example, instead of looking through my catalog of images for a flower shot for /flora every day, I take some time at the beginning of each month to find 30 flower images that I want to post throughout the month, and I use Supercast's scheduling feature to set it so one cast posts per day for the whole month!

I still cast organically throughout the day, but I know that at least the art that I want to be seen in specific art channels is handled for the day. Now I have more time to chat with people in replies, and browse the amazing art and insightful casts that the community posts on Farcaster.

How to Schedule Posts With Supercast

To schedule a cast (or a few hundred casts) with Supercast, first head to the home page and hit the "Cast" button up at the top.

You will be taken to the "Cast" page.

On the left you will see "Drafts". This shows any casts that you have scheduled to post at a later date. In the center, you will see your cast window. On the right, a pane is reserved to show you Channel Previews as you plan your casts.

Use the cast box to type out your cast. You can even plan to post a whole thread at once, by adding replies to your root cast.

You can use the buttons below the text to add an image, a GIF, or emojis.

If you click, the ?, your cast will be sent by the @superanon account.

Click "Pick Channel" to find the channel that you want your cast to be posted in.

Once you select a channel, a preview will show up on the right hand side, showing the channel description, and the most recent, most popular post on the channel.

At this point, you can click "Post" if you want your cast to go live immediately.

To schedule a cast to post in the future, click "Pick Time"

A window will pop up. Choose the date, and the specific time that you want your cast to post.

Once you have selected a time, click the drop down menu that reads "Once".

Decide whether you want your cast to post just once, to post at the same time every day, at the same time every week, or at the same time every month.

Once you are satisfied with your cast, your channel, your date and time, and your post frequency, hit "Schedule".

Once the bar at the bottom turns blue, you cast is scheduled.

If you made a mistake and need to change something about your cast, click the little trash barrel next to the date and time.

Doing so will unschedule your cast, and make it available to edit the content or change the channel.

How to Schedule Multiple Posts In A Row

The best way to schedule multiple casts in a row, is to hit "New Draft" in the top left when you are finished with your first cast.

This will open a fresh cast window where you can create your next cast. However, there is a handy twist! When you go click "Pick Time" the calendar will show you the last date and time that you scheduled your previous cast to post.

I use this feature to consistently post in channels once per day. I can now just pick December 13th for this cast to post, and December 14th for the next, and on and on.

This helps you keep track, so if you are batch posting to a channel for a whole week or month, you don't lose track of what you are doing and accidentally post two casts at the same time.

If you accidentally hit "back" or "refersh" and lose your log of when your last cast was scheduled for, you can reft to the Drafts panel on the left to see the dates and times that you have already chosen.

Pro Tips for Cast Scheduling - Use the Weekly or Monthly Feature!

I have been an NFT artist for three years now. I have minted a lot of my work as NFTs. I have already done the work of curating, naming, captioning and posting. Why not make those years of work, work for me?

One weekend, I pulled my data to find all of the pieces I have ever minted on Tezos, ETH, and Solana.

I created a giant spreadsheet of all my minted pieces. I listed the chain, the platform, the Collection, the piece title, the number of editions, the date it was minted, and the link to the piece.

Next I asked ChatGPT, to create a cast for each individual piece in this format:

"Cadillac Ranch" by Lauren McDonagh-Pereira An edition of 1 in Westward Bound on ETH Minted on 03/01/2022 https://opensea.io/assets/ethereum/0x495f947276749ce646f68ac8c248420045cb7b5e/2560167528831681655449026720249695031072996054742885035460294042163819315201

This created the text for over 200 art casts containing the crucial information and link to everything that I have minted since 2021.

I divided the total number of casts by 30, so that most of my art shows up at least once per month (except in February). I didn't post all of them, so I ended up with casting 5 pieces a day.

I picked times of day to spread these casts out. I didn't want all of my casts to have links, so I made sure to space my NFT casts out so they only pop once every 3 hours, during the hours that I am usually awake and responding to people on Farcaster. I chose to have my NFT casts post at 9 am, 12 pm, 3 pm, 6 pm, and 9 pm.

Now with my casts, and my schedule, I went back to Supercast.

I copied each of my ChatGPT created casts into a new cast window. When the cast goes live, the link text will be replaced with a frame. This works best for Tezos pieces, because Objkt.com links show up as clickable frame on Warpcast.

I carefully, went down my list of every NFT I had minted, and set it to post at 9 am, 12 pm, 3 pm, 6 pm, or 9 pm on one of the days each month between the 1st and the 30th.

Then I simply, set my cast frequency to Monthly, and I was good to go.

Now, this cast will post at 9 pm on the 18th of every month for as long as Supercast keeps this feature.

The cast below was originally created in July, and has been successfully posted on July 12th, August 12th, September 12th, October 12th, November 12th and December 12th.

I only had to create the cast once, and I have gotten 6 casts (and counting) worth of engagement on it.

Remember, its important to strike a balance between making sure your art is seen and spamming people. No one likes spam.

For me, having each NFT cast once per month felt like a good balance. Plus, I post to Farcaster 20-30 times a day, so five of them being formulaic seems like a fair balance.

My Secrets Have Been Revealed!

People often ask me how I have the time to be so active on Farcaster, how I consistently maintain my channel streaks, and how I remember what I posted. Now you know. It's all mapped out and scheduled in advance.

Go out there and get organized!
