What is a Moxie Hero?
The Moxie Hero Program launched in October. Each Monday, at 11 AM EST Moxie community members are named Moxie Heroes for the week.
These heroes give more Moxie than their usual FarScore, and have more engagements to give out.
This week I am not a hero so I give out Moxie on my first 402 likes of the day, my first 161 replies of the day, and my first 80 recasts of the day. When I exhaust those, all further engagement for the day gives out no Moxie.
My FarScore is 21, so as a regular user, my likes give out 10.5 Moxie, my replies give out 21 Moxie, and my recasts gives out 42 Moxie.
Compare this to last week, when I was a Moxie Hero.
Each day, I could give out Moxie with my first 750 likes, first 300 replies, and my first 150 recasts.
My scores were boosted too by a factor of 5x. My likes were worth 49.46 Moxie, my replies were worth 98.92 Moxie, and my recasts were worth 197.4 Moxie.
Note: I have purchased and locked a lot of FanTokens this week, so my organic score went up, that's why these rates aren't a clean 5x.
For all users, heroes and non-heroes alike, these balances reset at 00:00 UTC (7:00 PM EST) every day.
How are Moxie Heroes Chosen?
This seems to be an evolving process, but each week Jason @betashop.eth puts out a cast asking the previous week's Moxie Heroes to nominate someone, and opening up nominations to the broader community.
We are wrapping up our 4th week of the Moxie Hero experiment, so the process for selecting who gets a turn with the juiced up power is likely to change over time.
Jason confirmed that a Farcaster can be a Moxie hero more than once, just not two weeks in a row.
How Do You Crush Your Moxie Hero Week?
So you just got the DM from Airstack and found out that you are one of this week's Moxie Heroes? What do you do? How do you make the most of it?
Get a Supercast Subscription - Supercast is a Farcaster client that is loaded with features. It does cost $10 a month, but I consider it essential for Moxie Hero week. Why? There are no rate limits! Warpcast will not let you like 300 casts in an hour, or reply 100 times in rapid succession, and honestly, if you are a grown up with a job or kids or both, and can't be on Warpcast all day, you are going to need that to use up your full hero allowance. Moxie Heroes get flooded with replies, and trying to give out 750 likes/300 replies/150 recasts every 24 hours is no joke, and close to impossible with Warpcast's rate limits. Try Supercast and thank me later.
Spread the Love - Don't just spam your friends or encourage farming. The point of being a Moxie Hero is to spread the Moxie love across the Farcaster ecosystem so that it does not become a blatant pay-to-play tipping system. Find an art channel you love or your favorite Dev channel and start spreading your juiced up engagement amongst a wide pool of people.
Spam Those Likes - 750 likes was always my most difficult task. I rarely like a cast without commenting on it, so using up all 750 was hard for me. This is when Supercast was super handy. Usually around 6 PM EST with an hour to go, I would see that I had 200 or 300 likes left to burn. I would go to my favorite art channels /itookaphoto /flora /nature on Supercast and just rapid fire likes down the whole feed.
Befriend Your Fellow Heroes - Real talk. Being a Moxie Hero is a LOT of work. I spent 4 or 5 hours a day at least on Farcaster during my hero week, and well... we all deserve some financial compensation for that level of effort. When you become a hero, you are added to a Moxie Hero group chat with all your fellow heroes. Make sure that you follow all of them, and reply to their casts too so that the heroes putting in the work also get a juiced up Moxie haul.
You Need Supercast to Use Up Your Recast Balance - Unless you are literally on Warpcast all day, and willing to wait for your recast rate limit to load and reload over and over again, you really do need Supercast. On Supercast, you can recast as much as you want. So get on Supercast and be sure to recast 150 deserving casts each day!
You Get a Bonus 8th Day if You Are Fast - Moxie Heroes take the cape at 11 AM EST each Monday, but reset happens at 7 PM EST each night. That means that Sunday is not your last day as a Moxie Hero! You actually get a bonus 8th day, but you only have 16 hours to use up your balance. I found this out way too late and ended up replying the alphabet at people at 1 am in desperation. So be armed with this knowledge and plan ahead.
Have Fun and Make New Friends - Your notifications are going to be absolutely flooded. Everyone is going to want to milk you for that sweet, sweet Moxie. So take a deep breath, have fun, and use it as an opportunity to make new friends and see corners of Farcaster that you don't usually frequent.
Use Your Profits to Buy Fan Tokens - Because you get so much engagement, you will earn way more Moxie than you usually do! Take advantage of that, buy FanTokens of people you connected with during your Moxie week and use them to boost your organic FarScore for when your rank comes back down to earth.
